So it’s the end of November and I’m going into my 6th month being at Artspace Patchogue! A lot has happened since my first move in, we put on three shows and one outside event. It’s pretty interesting living in a building that is full of artists and then on top working with them as well. Here we have a Gallery,Resident Life and a Marketing committee. Each committee has a chair, co-chair and a secretary . Each member nominates and votes people into those positions. It’s an interesting experience to say the very least!

I want to push for more workshops,classes , lectures and demos here as well as just getting into the community. It’s an interesting time to be on Long Island and an artist. I believe that we can serve as a catalyst to really bring life back into all of the towns here. It’s a lot for some 40 odd people to take up but, there is work to be done!

I also find it strange that Artspace is all across the country, and yet so far I haven’t been able to connect with other artspaces’! It’s time for me to change that! We should be in contact working together, cross pollenating!

As for me Erick Mercer, I am working on several things to take off soon!

• A service for freelancers and satellite workers in the digital arts industry.
• A hosting company which not only hosts ones site, but helps design and serve as an incubator for new ideas!
• Screenprinted shirts and poster series.
• A surfing film that is part fact and part fiction.
• Stop motion monster movie!
• A new take to figure drawing on Long Island!

Laying a lot of foundation work and it will pay off! When I build up I’m will take it past the clouds and beyond the moon!
