We are made of star stuff.

19 days later…Happy New Year!

It’s a new year!
Ten years since the new minimum dawned on us.
I’m sticking to The Cult of Done Manifesto for this years dreams, ideas and goals.

Dear Members of the Cult of Done,

I present to you a manifesto of done. This was written in collaboration with Kio Stark in 20 minutes because we only had 20 minutes to get it done.

The Cult of Done Manifesto

1. There are three states of being. Not knowing, action and completion.
2. Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.
3. There is no editing stage.
4. Pretending you know what you’re doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that you know what you’re doing even if you don’t and do it.
5. Banish procrastination. If you wait more than a week to get an idea done, abandon it.
6. The point of being done is not to finish but to get other things done.
7. Once you’re done you can throw it away.
8. Laugh at perfection. It’s boring and keeps you from being done.
9. People without dirty hands are wrong. Doing something makes you right.
10. Failure counts as done. So do mistakes.
11. Destruction is a variant of done.
12. If you have an idea and publish it on the internet, that counts as a ghost of done.
13. Done is the engine of more.

When I first read that I was extremely excited because it is about ACTION
every year up till 2010 was about planning and theory
put it to action and let the work do the talking

I have an urge to be self generative in my work
from concept to creation
i am fully aware of the interconnection of it all
but that doesn’t mean i can’t experiment on my own with audio and sound

my girlfriend bought me a great little piece of hardware for Christmas
KORG nanoKEY
 KORG nanoKEY

I’ve been playing around with VST’s(wiki article)
and messing with Ableton and FL
but the winner in my book is
AudioMulch
it’s a really great program and tons of mash up artist use it

i’d like to focus on loops
and being able to control audio live and without much hassle
AM is perfect for that so far!

so for the new year here are some goals!

*get a car
-jeep cherokee
*use my tax refund wisely
-pay down credit cards
-start a savings account
*get on top of my student loans
-consolidate
*Cintiq 21UX
-new or used
*Nikon SLR
-new or used
*intern with great people
*Put out a collection of my panoramas
-late summer
*have a new place by late fall
*dvd of my work
-this fall!
-hopefully right in the city
*get signed on staff in the creative industry
*buy a projector

We are but 19 days into the new year with 346 days left to make it all happen!
stay tuned!

a VW bus.

During a lecture given by Ralph Bakshi about a year ago
he went through a lot of what composes his past current and future life
everything from how he got studios to pay for what he wanted to do
to shopping his own movies around to theaters
the gears of my mind have been turning ever since then
especially after he gave a much needed tough love talk to those who preach to the choir
about the downs of animation
outsourcing,commercialism and the like
and the feeling of being helpless

he was about self empowerment
and exploiting the commercial world
for personal gain
a sort of reverse engineering to the system

the music recording industry has changed
a lot of the middle men are being cut out
music myspace pages are born every second
people are producing their work and sharing it

along those same lines
how movies are released has changed as well
making sure people opt. for a DVD versus pirating a copy
means making that dvd full of extra content
sharing processes and the like
including posters and postcards
like with music
people want more bang for the buck

i believe that the independent motion artist can cut out the middle men
or at least
use them to increase their own ventures
couple the internet with real screenings
make products based off of motion work
the whole project can expand to many mediums
not to say an artist should be disciplined in everything
the opposite
we should call on other artist who are great at what they do
and allow them into our ideas

so where does the vw bus come in?
right now!

it will be loaded onto my current space craft
outfitted with the hardware necessary for
motion music and video artist interacting together
producing live works
pressing dvd’s on the spot
selling posters and teaching techniques
it’s about interactivity
and the sharing of the processes

everything from a band
to a film festival
to a gallery exhibition
the ideas are really limitless

it’s about getting out there
making that trip
and being that unique life experience peoplel will never forget

keep moving forward.

a delayed liftoff.

As it seems my initial liftoff has yet again been pushed back
crucial hardware for my craft is yet to be ordered
attending the Sace Voyage Academy
i’ve been training for four years preparing for this voyage
i have learned many things
patience and the belief of the big everything are some of the key lessons taught
space is the place and i strive to get here

carl sagan once said

I believe our future depends on how well we know this Cosmos in which we float like a mote of dust in the morning sky.

it is with this that i continue moving forward
doing what i can till i am thrusted against this gravity
into the cosmos

it’s on the best set of feelings that come with once again realizing
another delay has been issued.

some crucial parts currently being waited on
1.dualboot 32/64bit pc tower-visual processing\archiving\input\output
2.ohm64 controller-hands on control of video
3.nikon d70/90-primary documentation instrument
4.tagtool-creation of markings, establishment of my travelers mark
5.projector-the illumination of everything amongst the pitch black sky.

i still have the faith
that i will receive the call
“T-Minus 24 hours till lift off”

space is the place for me.
